Black & Veatch, a leading global engineering, consulting and construction company released the results of its third annual “Strategic Directions in the Electric Utility Industry” survey showing system reliability, aging workforce and infrastructure among the top concerns. The 2008 report identifies issues and concerns on the minds of U.S. power industry leaders. Also, this year’s survey includes a detailed look at the acceptance and implementation plans for demand-side management and energy-efficiency programs. “The survey results reflect the realities and concerns within today’s electric utilities industry,” said Richard Rudden, Senior Vice President in Black & Veatch’s Enterprise Management Solutions Division, and the executive sponsor for the survey. “The results show that the industry continues to be most concerned about system reliability, the aging work force and infrastructure, environment, and fuel policy.” The full survey can be accessed at: www.bv.com/strategicdirectionssurvey.
Smart Grid Investment Grant Administration Offering Announced by Black & Veatch and Baker Tilly
Black & Veatch Corporation and the accounting and advisory firm Baker Tilly Virchow Krause announced a joint Smart Grid Investment Grant (SGIG) service offering to assist energy utilities with program management, implementation and administration for its SGIG funded programs. Working with clients, this joint team of specialists establishes processes and controls that help to ensure compliance with U.S. Department of Energy requirements associated with SGIG funded programs. The processes and controls delivered through this service offering encompass: compliance with relevant Federal administrative, oversight, financial accounting, and reporting requirements. Compliance services for initiatives jointly funded by state programs can also be provided. Beyond compliance, subject matter specialists can work within the client’s information technology support systems or a hosted solution can be employed to provide accurate, timely, and controlled data management and reporting. Black & Veatch and Baker Tilly Announce NERC Compliance Management Service Offering
Black & Veatch and Baker Tilly Virchow Krause announced a joint North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) compliance management service that delivers a complete set of business process and technology solutions to support and optimize the client’s current and future NERC compliance management methods. Experience has shown that compliance can only be achieved through the diligent application of rigorous compliance programs, controls and procedures designed with the goal of providing quality evidence of compliance during an audit process.
