Science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education is more important than ever, given an estimated $40 trillion is needed for global infrastructure solutions over the next 30 years. Black & Veatch continues its longstanding commitment to students through our scholarship partnerships with many schools throughout the United States. If you're interested in learning more about what opportunities are available to you at your school, please contact our team.
Black & Veatch Scholars Program
Increasing demand for renewable energy. An aging grid made up of divergent systems. In the world of power generation and transmission, this much is clear: addressing the challenges of the future will take creative, motivated problem-solvers. To help bring along the next generation of thinkers, we’re funding scholarships at four colleges and universities here in our area:
- University of Central Missouri
- Metropolitan Community College
- Pittsburg State University
- Johnson County Community College
These scholarships are formally associated with Black & Veatch, and are intended to help us develop and retain relationships with individual students. Potential scholarship recipients will be expected to commit to these and other requirements:
- Exhibit and maintain a minimum level of academic performance
- Be willing and able to participate in exclusive internships with Black & Veatch
- Enroll in elective courses, within the curriculum allowed under the student’s degree program, which support Black & Veatch business goals
- Be actively engaged in the Black & Veatch scholarship program.
All scholarships are awarded by the individual colleges and universities. Granting of scholarship funds does not legally commit a student to employment at Black & Veatch; however, a scholarship can help support a relationship leading to an offer of employment.
Metropolitan Community College
As a BV Scholar, I am excited to experience real-life scenarios of an engineering technician and practice the skills that I have grown from my college courses. I am also excited to make connections with people pursuing similar career opportunities!
Pittsburg State University
To me, building the world is essential. Out of college, I want to do something that I love while making a difference in my community. From what I understand, Black & Veatch gives their employees the opportunity to do both.
University of Central Missouri
I am excited the most for the opportunities that I will have as a BV scholar. To me building a world of difference means to create solutions to problems that plague our world today in order for it to be different in the future.
Johnson County Community College
As a BV Scholar, I'm excited for the opportunity to see what takes place in an Engineering/Construction firm and how it will help me grow in my career. To me, Building a World of Difference means taking on projects around the world and being the difference maker for that region.
