Black & Veatch, Casale SA Announce Global Licensing Agreement for Fertilizers, Melamine and Methanol Technologies

Companies well positioned to address growth in global demand for fertilizer plant construction

Black & Veatch and Casale SA today announced the signing of a global licensing and cooperation agreement that designates Black & Veatch as a licensee for Casale’s innovative fertilizers, melamine, methanol and related chemical technologies. The companies are focused on addressing significant demand worldwide for chemical, fertilizer and industrial plant development. Demand is being driven primarily by global population growth and lower natural gas prices.

The licensing agreement builds on the successful joint execution of multiple projects by Black & Veatch and Casale during the past 30 years. Under the terms of the agreement, Black & Veatch is granted a global license to engineer and build chemical (i.e. methanol and melamine) and fertilizer (i.e. ammonia, urea, nitric acid, ammonium nitrate, urea ammonium nitrate, superphosphates and complex fertilizers) plants that use Casale technologies.

Black & Veatch and Casale now offer a global one-stop engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) solution for pursuing and participating in the proposal and execution of projects. Services also include start-up, operation and maintenance activities while leveraging Casale’s technologies.

“Black & Veatch has more than 50 years of experience in successful plant development in commercial fertilizer process technologies and project execution. Casale brings its global leadership in fertilizers, melamine, methanol and related technologies. This agreement offers integrated innovative low-cost solutions for all of our clients’ needs across the life of a project from conception to plant start-up and ongoing maintenance and operation support.”

Doug Miller, Vice President & Managing Director of Technology for Black & Veatch’s Oil & Gas business

“Casale has 95 years of experience in developing technologies in the fields of fertilizer, melamine, methanol and syngas generation, and in the design of the related plants, and currently holds a leading presence in such fields,” said Ermanno Filippi CTO of Casale SA. “This agreement allows us to further expand our offering in the global EPC marketplace by building on our longstanding and successful relationship with Black & Veatch.”
