Black & Veatch professionals are committed to improving lives in the communities where we live and work.
Our professionals are in more than 100 offices worldwide; however, Black & Veatch’s Mission of Building a World of Difference goes beyond offices and project sites. We extend our outreach across borders and time zones for a variety of global organizations and programs.
For more than 30 years, hundreds of Black & Veatch professionals, retirees, their friends and family members have volunteered for CIO, helping restore dozens of homes and neighborhoods, and changing lives in the process. Our professionals extended this Kansas City-based program to South Africa in 2015, where 63 volunteers helped local communities with gardening, painting and building children’s playground equipment.
Engineers Without Borders (EWB)
Black & Veatch professionals work selflessly on EWB projects around the globe. We provide the organization with financial support and are involved with many EWB chapters. In 2016, the Engineers Without Borders Mumbai chapter helped create a school sanitation site and biogas plant for a rural community in India. The project included the installation of 12 toilets.
International Coastal Cleanup (ICC)
Black & Veatch professionals and their families volunteer annually for this Ocean Conservancy event. They remove thousands of pounds of trash from the world’s waterways. Black & Veatch’s commitment to sustainability has an immediate, positive effect on the environment. In 2015, by the numbers:
- More than 1,200 Black & Veatch professionals and family members participated.
- Participants were from eight countries and 30 offices.
- They collected 651 bags of trash, which totaled more than 7,000 pounds.
- Volunteers collected trash from 35 sites.
Black & Veatch contributes to Red Cross initiatives around the globe. We recently supported disaster relief efforts in the United States, Ecuador, Nepal and Myanmar.
United Way supports thousands of community groups and encourages fundraising to increase their reach. The Black & Veatch Foundation and our professionals give time and money every year to support United Way. Our 2015 donation was nearly $2.3 million.
UK professionals regularly participate in numerous fundraising events for WaterAid, an organization that works to bring safe water to the world’s poorest communities.
