Black & Veatch helped NV Energy develop and gain approval of a business case for a smart grid program. The procurement process resulted in the selection of vendor partners for the meter data management system, automated metering infrastructure technology and end point installation. As part of the project, Black & Veatch helped NV Energy secure a $138 million Smart Grid Investment Grant (SGIG).

Black & Veatch is lead program integrator responsible for: project management; solution architecture and requirements development; vendor management; field acceptance testing; system and user acceptance testing; and deployment management.

Black & Veatch aligned multiple aspects of this effort so the project will generate economic and environmental benefits to NV Energy and its customers. Black & Veatch is applying decades of industry experience to ensure successful and efficient implementation of this $303 million initiative, which also includes a risk management component. Unlike traditional IT systems integrators, Black & Veatch’s smart grid resources reflect the company’s engineering, construction, business and IT expertise.

The NVEnergize project also has gained national recognition, moving into a Top 5 Ranking on Intelligent Utility magazine’s ratings for the largest smart grid projects in North America.
