Steven Wunning joined the Black & Veatch Board of Directors in 2004. In January 2015 Steve retired from Caterpillar Inc., the world’s largest manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, diesel and natural gas engines, and industrial gas turbines. Wunning was at Caterpillar for over 40 years and became a group president and Executive Office member of the company in 2004. Prior to his retirement he had administrative responsibility for the Resource Industries Group which included the Advanced Components & Systems Division, Integrated Manufacturing Operations Division, Mining Products Division, Mining Sales & Support Division, and Product Development & Global Technology Division.
Wunning has an undergraduate degree in Metallurgical Engineering from the University of Missouri at Rolla - now Missouri University of Science and Technology - and an Executive MBA from the University of Illinois. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Kennametal, Inc., The Sherwin Williams Company, Summit Materials, Inc., and Neovia Logistics Services, LLC. He is also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Missouri University of Science and Technology in Rolla, Missouri, and a former member of the Board of Governors for the American Red Cross in Washington, DC.
