Reliable Solutions for Asia's Energy Transition

Involved in over 56 gigawatts of wind and 25 gigawatts of solar projects globally, we’re helping Asian utilities prepare to integrate renewable energy, private companies power data centers, and mining sites with cleaner and more sustainable solutions and have the ability to provide commercial and industrial customers with distributed energy systems.

By improving the reliability of generation, transmission and distribution, we're helping organizations of all scales meet the current and future energy needs in the region.

Our 2,000 professionals in Asia today are proud of our 52-year legacy within the power sector in the region. As we celebrate the past, we remain focused on the future and our mission of Building a World of Difference.

The Energy Transition in Asia — The Next 50 Years

Utilities throughout the world are facing unprecedented change. Pressure to decarbonize energy and enable new technologies — from smart grids to electric vehicles — will be part of Asia’s future.

Demand for energy in the region will soar, as huge population centers transition to middle-class energy-hungry lifestyles. Yet, many nations today still grapple with enabling full electrification and universal broadband access, while remaining sensitive to rate increases.

Common are new solutions that are emerging that will take time to understand and integrate, yet those who ignore them face the threat of being left behind.

Growing Energy Demand in Southeast Asia

The region has a population of 660+ million people and is a US$2.4 trillion economy. Many nations are transitioning to developed economies and the region’s middle class is projected to double from 135 million to 334 million by 2030. Major infrastructure needs follow, with the estimation that more than US$500 billion in power and more than US$250 billion in water investment is needed by 2030.

Find out how we are helping to bridge the electricity gaps in many of Asia’s developing economies.

Building Asia’s Flagship Power Projects

As a full service Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractor, we are helping to bridge the electricity gaps in many of Asia’s developing economies through prime and large-scale roles on some of the region’s major power generation as well as power transmission and distribution projects.

We’re also working as a consultant earlier with utilities, developers, independent power producers (IPPs) and banks, reducing risks around key decisions and extending the value of power assets throughout their life cycles. As financial models and understanding matures, we see our roles growing in program management and asset optimization, helping clients get the most out of their infrastructure investments.

Chachoengsao 2 & Pluak Daeng Substation

The Electricity Generation Authority of Thailand’s (EGAT) made progress on the electrical power substation improvement program with the signing of the Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract to deliver the Chachoengsao 2 Substation and the Pluak Daeng Substation Improvement works by a consortium of Sumitomo Corporation, Black & Veatch and Italian-Thai Development PCL (ITD).

Indralaya No. 4 Combine Cycle Addition Project

Safety of everyone on site remains our number one priority. Projects aren’t a total success unless everyone can go home safely each day. This remains the case even at the most challenging, remote, or hard to access sites just like at the successful gas turbine upgrade at Indralaya, Indonesia.

Banten IPP Power Project

By working closely with banks and other relevant parties to explain the technical and other parameters of the project, financial close was achieved on schedule at the Banten IPP Power Project. The team collaborated to address perceived shortcomings related to Chinese contractor performance and equipment, delivering the quality needed for a successful project.
