What Black & Veatch does isn’t always visible to the people and communities where we work. However, to families and businesses in and around Wrexham, UK, clean, clear drinking water is readily apparent today. Dee Valley Water’s Llwyn Onn Water Treatment Works provides the people of Wrexham colourless, odourless drinking water free of manganese, a naturally occurring mineral that is prevalent in the rocks and soil in Wales.
Llwyn Onn Water Treatment Works had reliably supplied raw water quality since World War II, when it was built to supply water to a munitions factory; however, the aging structure and prevalence of manganese necessitated replacement of the treatment system. Dee Valley Water called on Black & Veatch to replace the aging works while keeping the existing works operating.
