When clients plan to deploy a new or unproven technology to the marketplace, it helps to count on a sole-source services provider. Black & Veatch has ability to scale the right mix of resources to engineer and deploy new ideas on a nationwide basis. It’s an ability that comes from more than 40 years of designing and deploying networks.

The company’s deployment of "firsts" includes the nation's first satellite entertainment radio network, the first PCS network and the first fiber optic and fiber-coax networks.

Horizon Wi-Com, a wireless system operator, needed help in deploying the first WiMax Internet system in the United States. The company needed swift action to get its new system up and running to nine major cities in a matter of months.

Black & Veatch did just that. Horizon Wi-Com’s project was completed in less than four months. The project team provided full turnkey services. Partnering with Black & Veatch for site build-out was a key element in the successful, speedy deployment.

Sirius Satellite Radio set out to pioneer a nationwide satellite radio terrestrial repeater network. Throughout the multi-year project, Black & Veatch delivered a full range of services, including program and construction management. Black & Veatch professionals helped Sirius with a timely launch of their nationwide network in more than 50 cities across the United States.

The key to the project’s success was Black & Veatch’s nationwide network of project offices. That wide array of support helped to rapidly deploy receiver/repeater sites on the country’s premier skyscraper rooftop locations. Working with new technology and demanding schedules in unusual locations is a core competency of the Black & Veatch team.

For QUALCOMM’s FLO TV project, Black & Veatch built a network of more than 200 sites on broadcast towers nationwide. The work started with site acquisition and continued through deployment construction. In the course of the project, Black & Veatch specialists performed design and zoning/permitting, as well as coordinating materials storage, management and shipping.
