Delivered ahead of schedule in 2012, the Tanjung Jati Units 3 & 4 Electric Generating Station is a template for EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) power delivery in Indonesia. Almost five years into operation, the units are performing at an industry leading availability rate.
Behind the success is a unique export model which provided high-quality Chinese equipment. It meant cost efficiency was balanced with reliability and demonstrates the benefits of advanced pre-qualified equipment programs.
Black & Veatch, subcontracted to Sumitomo Corporation, was responsible for the plant’s boiler island auxiliary equipment package. With Indonesia’s economy expanding and demanding more electric generation, there was and remains a lot of pressure on the construction and commissioning phases of power projects. Black & Veatch implemented an accelerated commissioning program to meet an aggressive schedule and all equipment was delivered on time to support construction.
