Engineering Technician Accelerator Program

Our Engineering Technician Accelerator Program is a training program to learn technical drawing concepts and develop skills using computer based-drafting tools, such as AutoCAD and Revit. Program participants will gain knowledge and skill development focused on targeted solutions like Renewables, Grid and EV Charging. The program is 3-6 months and upon successful completion professionals will transition to an Engineering Technician 1 position.

Engineering Candidates

Candidate Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or Certificate

  • Ability to operate a PC utilizing Windows OS; exposure to Microsoft Office and/or computer graphics programs a plus

  • Geospatial aptitude

  • Work effectively in a team environment

  • Verbal and written communication skills (bi-lingual a plus)

  • Ability to be in Kansas City for 3 weeks of training with occasional travel after, if needed

Frequently Asked Questions

Experience in drafting software and principles is not required to be accepted into the program.

This is a full-time paid position, and trainees will start employment on the first day of the class and are eligible for benefits.

Black & Veatch will be paying for the hotel, and flight directly, as well as provide per diem for meals, however candidates will be responsible for any extra incidentals.

Upon successful completion of the program, professionals will be reclassified to an Engineering Technician 1 position and receive a $2,000 (gross) bonus with a one-year repayment agreement. If the professional chooses to terminate their employment with Black & Veatch within one year of the bonus, they will need to repay the entire amount of the bonus.
