Social Progress in Action
Black & Veatch's MakerSpace at Johnson County's Central Resource Library
We are continuing our successful partnership with the Johnson County Library as part of our growing science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) outreach with the Black & Veatch MakerSpace at Central Resource Library. Library patrons will be able to develop their own VR projects and explore the cutting-edge intersection of 3D modeling, virtual reality and digital fabrication. Youth Services librarians will work with teachers to book field trips to the Black & Veatch MakerSpace.Watch the Video
Rube Goldberg Competition
Black & Veatch has served as the engineering partner for the Rube Goldberg Machine Contest (RGMC), a live competition held regionally for teams of students ages 11 to 14 to imagine, design and create an overly complex machine to accomplish a simple task. The competition teaches students about science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) in a fun setting while encouraging teamwork and out-of-the-box problem solving.Watch the Video
Industry Driving Social Impact Award
In 2020, Black & Veatch was recognized by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and Engineering for Change with an Industry Driving Social Impact Award for its efforts to achieve the U.N.’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The Impact.Engineering jury referenced the company’s efforts to deliver the Escondida Water Supply desalination infrastructure project in South America; its work in enabling hydrogen for decarbonization; and its push to innovate with and develop microgrids.Learn More
