Gas to Liquids (GTL)

Gas to Liquids (GTL)

Black & Veatch and Emerging Fuels Technology provide easier, faster, cost effective and reliable paths for the implementation of gas to liquids (GTL), municipal solid waste, biomass, and coal to liquids (XTL).

EFT’s proprietary Advanced Fixed Bed (AFB) Fischer-Tropsch reactor/catalyst system can be applied to synthesis gas made from virtually any carbon-based feedstock. The company’s product upgrading technologies can produce a wide range of products, including pumpable synthetic crude oil to high-quality Group III+ base oils, as well as a wide variety of transportation fuels. The EFT platform includes all related third-party sublicenses needed to create a complete process package for a GTL plant, including a “freedom to operate” legal opinion.

Black & Veatch is one of the most diversified contractors in the industry, offering a full spectrum of EPC (engineering, procurement and construction) solutions. Their seasoned professionals have nearly a century of experience in EPC projects of complex size and scope on six continents.

Major project development and execution can often be a complicated process. From engineering design to the project schedule to choosing the appropriate contracting model, all are critical components for creating a successful end product. Black & Veatch has been working in the EPC industry since the birth of the model in the 1980s, successfully executing more than 900 major projects globally across the power, oil & gas, water and telecommunications industries. While there are many EPC firms today with different approaches to this market, Black & Veatch has chosen to be flexible by listening to our clients and devising the best solutions for their individual needs and preferences.

Black & Veatch’s proven success in hundreds of EPC contracts over the past 30 years in multiple industries allows us to support our clients in execution model selection and provide seamless transitions from the planning phase to mobilization. Our collaboration with clients has included a wide variety of roles:  prime contractor, joint venture partner, subcontractor, and both consortium leader and member.

Regardless of a client’s choice — ranging from a multiple contract model as the primary manager to a firm lump-sum contract relying on a single entity — Black & Veatch and EFT have the flexibility, experience and track record to deliver any GTL project.
