Electric Industry in the Philippines Post COVID-19?
Gas-fired generation will remain an important power generation asset class in the Philippines and other countries in Asia. A combined two thirds of industry respondents -- senior Black & Veatch clients and partners in Asia -- believe investment in utility-scale gas-fired power will continue beyond 2035. Natural gas will serve as a bridging fuel alongside greater renewable energy adoption, with opportunities for power developers to deploy new and more efficient turbine class and future proof existing facilities by exploring the addition of battery energy storage systems as well as blending hydrogen or ammonia to lower the facilities carbon emissions further over the long term.

Solar ready-for-the-grid and future proofed
What is keeping the electric industry up at night in Asia and the Philippines? Financing post COVID-19 and the integration of renewable energy on the grid are the top two issues, according to our Asia Electric Report 2021. As an intermittent power source, often in locations miles from main transmission lines, and operating on maturing networks not used to variable generation, revenues can be protected and maximized through exploring bifacial panel configurations, integrating cost-effective battery energy storage systems, and effectively planning and delivering connectivity to the main grid beyond the switch yard.
Black & Veatch's holistic and complete solar energy solution reduces your risk of future revenue erosion and helps you maximize the production of firm and dispatchable renewable generation across the facility's entire lifecycle.Download Report
Efficient gas-fired generation for a more stable and cleaner grid
Gas has a future in the Philippines as an important bridging fuel in the region's energy transition (see our Asia Electric Report 2021). As an industry leader in all applications of combustion turbine technology, we are a one-stop shop in delivering reliable and efficient gas-fueled power generation: from fast-response, simple cycle assets to baseload, combined cycle facilities, to co-generation and/or combined heat & power (CHP) for large industrial complexes.
With combustion turbine deployments in more than 25 countries and five of our projects recognized by Power Magazine as “Gas-Fired Plant of the Year" since 2009, talk to us today to learn how we can deliver a high-quality, reliable facility or extend the lifecycle and optimal performance of your facility.Download Report
