Letter from the CEO: Transforming our Operations to Benefit our Clients

To our clients:

From climate change to COVID-19, our world is experiencing a moment of profound recalibration. Global megatrends such as decarbonization, digitization and a drive for more reliable, resilient infrastructure are reshaping how governments, companies and communities consider essential energy, water and communications services. With global decarbonization pledges a focus of COP26, and the passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act on November 5, the focus on creating a more sustainable future has never been greater.

Today, after carefully listening and working with our clients to understand your rapidly evolving goals and issues in this transforming world, we are announcing our new operating model that will enhance the client experience across our organization, effective January 1, 2022.

The new Black & Veatch structure is designed to provide our clients with greater access to the full scope of our expertise across market sectors and project types, outcome-driven approach to service delivery and our unique ability to deliver innovation at any stage of a project’s development. This structure supports our objective of being even more agile and responsive to our clients and, when paired with our deep market knowledge, will allow Black & Veatch to develop and deliver innovative and sustainable solutions that address your goals and issues in a cost-, schedule- and safety-effective manner.

The new Black & Veatch builds on the company’s traditional core business expertise in power, gas, fuels, chemicals, water, telecommunications and transportation as well as consulting and government services to help our clients chart a more efficient, more sustainable future. Our business is being transformed into three global client-focused market sectors – Connectivity and Commercial, Energy and Process Industries, and Governments and Environment – alongside an additional regional business for Asia Pacific and India to address this region’s high-growth markets.

The pandemic illustrated how agile and responsive our employee-owners are when serving our clients, and transforming our operating model is only the next step in delivering a client experience that optimizes ease, emotion and effectiveness in the solutions that we deliver.

This transformation will provide you our clients and your business a stronger partner in anticipating and meeting your goals. The opportunities for achieving greater value from Black & Veatch’s entire portfolio will be apparent immediately as we deliver our offerings and solutions. As you have come to expect, our employee-owners will continue to dedicate themselves to your projects, enabling the highest standards in quality, safety and sustainability while delivering cost and schedule effectiveness.

Through our new operating model, we look forward to delivering better, faster and more effective outcomes for you in the months and years ahead.

Thank you for your support.
