Mario Azar
Chairman and CEO
With nearly four decades of global leadership experience in critical infrastructure and energy, Mario Azar has served as Black & Veatch’s Chairman and CEO since 2022. Mario joined Black & Veatch in 2018 as President of its global Power business and was appointed to the company’s Board of Directors in 2021. He has led Black & Veatch through strategic growth by repositioning its portfolio to serve the rapidly evolving infrastructure markets, and to address major global needs such as water scarcity, the energy transition and data driven infrastructure expansion.
Before Black & Veatch, Mario served in multiple global roles at Siemens and previously Westinghouse, starting his career as a manufacturing quality engineer and taking on growing responsibilities towards serving as global CEO of Siemens’ Oil & Gas and Marine business.
Mario serves as a member of the Board of Directors for the United States Energy Association and contributes to Black & Veatch’s home community of Greater Kansas City by serving on the region’s United Way board of trustees, and the Chamber of Commerce and the Civic Council boards. He is also an active supporter of multiple philanthropic organizations helping disadvantaged populations nationally and internationally.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.
