At Black & Veatch, our commitment to sustainable infrastructure means ensuring power, water, connectivity and other human critical infrastructure is reliable, resilient, responsible, affordable and secure. Each of these tenets is important for infrastructure to be truly sustainable in the long-term. These principles guide our approach and ensure we deliver pragmatic and innovative solutions.
Corporate sustainability and client-focused solutions
In 2024, we sustained an 11% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions from our 2019 baseline—even with significant growth and acquisitions—by optimizing our fleet and real estate and procuring renewable energy. Holistic safety initiatives, talent development programs, and digital transformation efforts—including the appointment of a Chief Digital Technology Officer—underscore our commitment to operational excellence. On the client side, Black & Veatch is advancing decarbonization through hydrogen, carbon capture and nuclear technologies, while also delivering integrated water solutions that enhance climate resilience and public health.
Empowering communities and building a net-zero future
Black & Veatch’s community impact is driven by our employee-ownership culture and deep-rooted partnerships. In 2024, the company supported over 150 nonprofits and invested in startups through our BV IgniteX® accelerator. With a goal to achieve net-zero emissions across Scopes 1, 2 and 3 by 2050, Black & Veatch continues to invest in data systems, partnerships and scalable technologies. Through collaboration and relentless innovation, the company remains dedicated to Building a World of Difference® — delivering sustainable infrastructure that meets today’s needs and secures tomorrow’s possibilities.
