More than 90 percent of Scotland’s energy comes from renewables. The lion’s share of that, circa 70 percent, is onshore wind. Among the ways Black & Veatch has supported the development of this resource, and successful drive for decarbonization, is by providing technical due diligence for BayWa r.e.’s acquisition of High Constellation Wind Farm.

The proposed ten-turbine wind farm is located on Scotland’s Kintyre peninsula, roughly 20km South of Tarbert and 30km North of Campbeltown. Once installed, the onshore wind farm will have a capacity of approximately 50 megawatts (MW). Global renewable energy developer BayWa r.e. acquired the project from Blue Energy to expand its UK portfolio, which includes developing projects with an installed capacity of 685 MW, and managing over 2,400 MW of wind and solar capacity.

Drawing upon its expertise in every stage in the project lifecycle, Black & Veatch rigorously reviewed High Constellation’s design, buildability, permitting, environmental impact assessment, Capex and Opex assumptions, energy yield and grid connection.
