Black & Veatch led an on-site charrette for programming the support facilities for a Polish EIS. Joint inspection of the existing site facilities with both Europe District personnel and Missile Defense Agency representatives preceded the creation of a list of facilities to be used during construction and/or for long-term occupation. Other participants in the charrette included Polish Army representatives as well as representatives from Installation Management Command (IMCOM) headquarters and IMCOM Europe. Our team then generated an area development plan of the proposed layout with a mix of re-used buildings and new construction, along with a basic level of road and utility infrastructure. Following the on-site work, we refined the layout and generated additional data such as cost estimates and building renderings.

Three Benefits of Using Modular Solutions to Mitigate PFAS Contamination
In 2023, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) proposed the first-ever drinking water standard for PFAS. The new regulation is expected to be finalized at the beginning of 2024 with compliance mandated by 2027. Water utilities are understandably growing concerned about how to efficiently and affordably meet these standards. Fortunately, modular water treatment solutions are available for rapid and emergency deployment.

Nature-Based Project Addresses City’s Top Public Works Priority, Winning Record FEMA Grant
Weekes Wash drains a portion of the Superstition Mountains east of metropolitan Phoenix. The usually dry watercourse cuts through desert foliage and is often defined by flash floods. When heavy storms hit, it all quickly comes out in the wash – floodwater, sediment, debris – with destructive force. In harm’s way is Apache Junction, a growing suburb of approximately 40,000 residents.
Design-Build Project Achieves Ambitious Budget, Schedule and Water Supply Diversification Goals
Parker Water and Sanitation District (PWSD) previously relied on groundwater as their sole water source. Due to the diminishing nature of this finite source, it was essential for PWSD to reduce reliance on groundwater and diversify its water supplies.

Marine Corps Air Station Miramar Microgrid: From Design and Construction to Operations and Commissioning
Black & Veatch and Schneider Electric are designing and constructing an energy security microgrid at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, in San Diego, California. Once fully operational, the microgrid solution will provide resiliency, incorporate renewable energy, and allow operations at mission-critical facilities to continue if the utility power grid is compromised or damaged.
