Project: Black & Veatch Designed First New Jordanian CCGT Capable of Burning Natural Gas and Fuel Oil

Black & Veatch faced three complex challenges in helping Jordan meet its growing demand for electric power. A new combined cycle power plant had to be up and running on an aggressive time schedule. Project planning needed to carefully consider precious ground water in cooling the plant. And the location had to take a sensitive environment into account.

Project: Creating Reliable Electricity Supply for Saudi Arabia's Second-Largest City

Black & Veatch played a crucial role to help meet rising energy demand in Jeddah – Saudi Arabia’s second-largest city. With a population of more than 4 million, Jeddah is the major urban center of western Saudi Arabia. The Power Plant 3 expansion project has addressed Jeddah’s growing electricity needs. Black & Veatch was selected by Saudi Arabia-based National Contracting Company to perform engineering and project management scope for an eight-unit power plant addition.

Project: Expansion at Refinery Helps Meet Petroleum Demand and Enhance Environmental Performance

The Oman Refineries and Petrochemical Co. (ORPC) turned to Black & Veatch for help in processing increasingly heavy crude and sour crudes to meet rising petroleum product demand in the region, while enhancing environmental performance. The operating flexibility of the Sohar Refinery would need to increase to achieve this objective.

Through its role in the Al-Khafji power project, Black & Veatch helped to provide onshore and offshore facilities reliability with the timely completion of an important power plant upgrade project in Saudi Arabia’s eastern province.
