The county's aging first-responder radio system urgently needed to be replaced. Canadian utility group Fortis Inc. owns a number of gas and electric utilities across North America. Two of these utilities faced ratemaking challenges that were impacting the level of rates paid by certain customers and the utilities’ future financial health.
The combined cycle project involves adding heat recovery steam generators (HRSGs) on each combustion turbine to capture the waste heat and convert it to steam, which powers a new steam turbine generator and adds to the features of the plant.
